The 4th of July, Independence Day, Happy Birthday America! July 4th comes with tons of parties, fireworks, and your best pairings of wearing red, white, and blue! A couple studies were done about the goings on of Independence day, and the findings were interesting (some were aumusing/ironic):
A new survey by the National Retail Federation reveals that 214 million people will celebrate Independence Day. Other findings:
– Americans will spend $6.8 billion on Independence Day celebrations.
– the average American family will spend $71.34 on food for their Independence Day barbecue.
– 65% of people plan to attend an Independence Day barbecue or picnic.
– 43% of people plan to watch fireworks on Independence Day.
– 12% of people plan to attend an Independence Day Parade.
A new survey by Wallethub reveals that 150 million hot dogs will be eaten on Independence Day. Other findings:
– $6.7 billion will be spent on the Fourth of July
– 700 million pounds of chicken will be purchased this week for Independence Day barbecues.
– $4.4 million worth of American flags are sold annually. Most of the flags are made in China.
– $324 million worth of Chinese fireworks will be imported into the U.S.
– 67% of all fireworks injuries take place in late June or early July
