My immediate reaction when I heard “Love Again” a couple days before it aired on our station was delight. It had such a fun sound, and I could see myself cranking it up and singing along to it. While, of course, I had hoped the national winner would be from Peoria, I wasn’t upset that this was the guy we were going to be hearing a lot from.
“Love Again” hit the airwaves nationally in April and was an instant hit. It’s been moving up the country charts very quickly, and as an added benefit to winning Nash Next, he’s been able to hit all the major shows- Nash Nights Live, Blair Garner, and Ty, Kelly, and Chuck, but we hadn’t had the pleasure of chatting with him ourselves, yet! Well, I mean, he’s retweeted our Nash Next tweets, and he commented on my… um… interesting… dance to “Love Again” on Instagram (see below) but no actual conversation.
But on Thursday, we found out that Todd was coming to PEORIA!! Imagine our excitement! Details here. We immediately started contacting his manager, asking if he could call in, and all full-of-coffee, he did on Friday morning. And he could not have been nicer! We were on the phone for 20 minutes (we’re lucky to get 5 for most artists), and he would have talked all day if I kept asking him to! I took out pauses and “ums” from both of us to cut it down for you, but here’s the now 13 minute audio that you only heard a part of on air!
