What do you get when you mix a broke college kid and the need for braces?
Usually, debt of some kind (just add it to my large student loan tab).
Amos Dudley, however, is a digital design student at New Jersey Institute of Technology, so he has access to a 3D printer, and he printed himself Invisalign-style braces. He used a non-toxic plastic for the molds, and the entire process cost him about $60. Invisalign (the clear braces) can cost somewhere around $8000 with insurance only covering a small portion of it, so by DIYing, this guy saved himself a whopping $7,940! That’s like a year’s worth of rent!
The bonus, THEY ACTUALLY WORKED!! Check out the picture of his teeth below!
Way to go, Amos!
