Not that it will happen, but if you happen to win, these are 4 things you should do:
- Sign the back of the ticket. That way nobody can steal it and claim THEY won.
- Resist the urge to tell everybody. Only tell those closest to you. You don’t want everybody hitting you up for money the rest of your life.
- Hire a money management team. Estate planner, financial planner, an accountant. do this before you claim the money because they will explain why you should take the lump sum instead of yearly payments.
