Legendary comedian and Peoria native Richard Pryor was finally honored over the weekend with the unveiling of the Richard Pryor Statue in the Warehouse District.
The statue was built by local artist Preston Jackson with funds from the African American Hall of Fame and Comedian George Lopez. The bronze statue titled "More Than Just a Comedian" sits at the corner of Washington and State streets.
There was actually a funny moment in the unveiling when the tarp was pulled off, only to reveal a second tarp underneath. The emcee said that it was "Richard's final joke."
