Just this morning I had the space heater on in the studio…yes, I am one of those people. I dress for winter, basically all year long. Here’s a checklist of 10 reasons your internal thermostat is out of whack. It can help you get a handle on why you’re chronically freezing your buttocks off.
1. You’re too thin
2. You’re thyroid is out of whack
3. You don’t get enough iron
4. You have poor circulation
5. You don’t get enough sleep
6. You’re dehydrated
7. You don’t consume enough Vitamin B12
8. You have diabetes
9. You need to bulk up your muscle mass
10. And the best reason of all, you’re a woman
Dr. Margarita Rohr at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City says, “In general, women are better at conserving heat than men. In order to do this, women’s bodies are programmed to maintain blood flow to vital organs such as the brain and heart. This directs blood flow toward these organs and away from less vital organs like hands and feet which leaves these body parts chronically cold.”
So you may need to see a doctor, but until then, just keep dressing in layers…lots and lots of layers.
