Many people had the luxury of the day off yesterday to bring in the New Year. But the City of New York sanitation department was rolling into overtime. They had the unfortunate responsibility of clean up Times Square after the big New Years Eve celebration. They removed 40 tons of party hats, noisemakers, confetti and paper streamers. 100+ workers, 16 mechanical sweepers, 13 trucks and 14 leaf blowers cleared the New Year's Eve celebration garbage. Some New Year's Eve revelers are upset with the NYPD because officers refused to let them leave their Times Square pens to go to the bathroom. Many people relieved themselves in bottles. Yep....you read those last two lines right. NO LEAVING THE TIMES SQUARE AREA FOR BATHROOM BREAKS ONCE YOU ARE IN THERE. Can you imagine? Something to think about if you ever get the urge to ring in the New Year in the Big Apple. Seems like if the police don't let people leave....maybe they should have to clean up the mess. Ok we know that wouldn't fly, but I bet before you knew it one of them would have constructed a couple portapotties that look like Frosty the Snowman so as not to upset the festive decor. ;-)
