On the national front, President Obama defeated Mitt Romney to retain the presidency. Here are the local results from yesterdays election:

18th Congressional District

Aaron Shock (R) defeats Steve Waterworth (D)

"Obviously, we've got a shortage of work," said Schock. "We are about to hit a fiscal cliff at the end of this year with the largest tax increase in American history, set to go into effect January 1. Second is entitlement reform; I'm putting together a plan to save social security and medicare from going bankrupt. I'm looking forward to playing a role and being the voice for my district."

17th Congressional District

Cheri Bustos (D) defeats Bobby Schilling (R)

Bustos said one of her campaign goals was to meet as many people as possible.

46th District Senate

Dave Koehler (R) defeats Pat Sullivan (D)

"When you can help people solve problems, whether it's a business whether it's an individual, that's what you're there for. That's why I choose to be a state senator, I choose to run," said Koehler.

91st District U.S. Representative

Mike Unes (R) defeats Jennifer Allison (D)

Unes says to slove problems we need to look to neighboring states

"Why does the state of Indiana have surpluses at a time when we have multi-billion dollar deficits year after year?" Unes asked. "I think you can look around and say, let's have some fiscal reform, let's have some items that are going to bring fiscal sanity and have the job creators come back."

State Attourney

Jerry defeates Frank Lerulli to retain the seat of the Peoria County States Attourney.
