Hot Seats Could Lead to A Rash
1:40PM Wednesday
February 27, 2013

We heard about this a few years ago from laptop computers. Toasted Skin Syndrome. People were getting rashings on their laps from having their laptops sitting on them for an extended period of time. Well now we are hearing about this skin rash again.....from car seat warmers. The current snow storm that has been hitting the midwest over the last several days has people sitting in their cars for longer than normal. And more and more people are reporting toasted skin syndrome because of it. Doctors say its the real deal. In two studies in the journal Archives of Dermatology, the study authors found that a skin-discoloration condition called "erythema ab igne," or "toasted skin syndrome," is linked with skin exposure to the car seat warmers.

I am not among the lucky ones who has car seat warmers. Although I have ridden in vehicles that do and I can certainly see where this could happen. Having a warm tushy and back while you are driving is a pretty fabulous thing. But try to keep your mind on how long those little bun huggers stay on or the hot seat could get to you.
