
Former Peoria Mayor Jim Maloof passed away on Saturday at the age of 93 from heart failure. He was the mayor for 12 years before retiring in 1997.
Maloof was a voice for St. Jude, as he was the national Executive Vice President of St. Jude, and the first affiliated clinic in the country had opened in Peoria, because founder Danny Thomas was so impressed by the local commitment to St. Jude.
